Description The third module of the basic course on civil protection in Croatia focussed on the coast safeguard against oil and chemical pollution caused by maritime accidents. On November 5th and 6th, Mr Migliardi from RINA dealt with the Solas regulation "Safety of life at sea" both for oil tankers and cargos as well as the Marpol regulation (Marine Pollution). The latter regards prevention and control on oil and pollution by noxious liquid substances and dangerous substances carried by sea. On November 7th and 8th, Mr
Borniotto faced the theme of the methods of intervention in case of maritime disasters. On that day, Commandant Saffioti from the Italian Fire Brigade dealt with the methods and techniques of intervention in case of maritime disaster with particular reference to measures and methods to mitigate the effects of hydrocarbon leaks, monitoring the trajectory of leakages through air and satellite observation.
